I have not participated in one of these before, but I like the idea of stepping outside my zone a bit, so here we go. Thanks to for the prompt!
Spiraling
Spinning
Spinning
Spinning
Your body and mine together
Dancers locked
In a wild ballet
And the mirrors around us
Whirling and circling
Streaks of us like paint on the wall
Grasping at you but you slip by
Quickly through my fingers and you are
Gone
In the dark room with the bare walls
They play soft music that is meant to
Calm me
But all I hear is your voice
Begging me to whisper to you and I scream
Silence
I reach for you but you flicker
And I am alone
Again
Was there a time when we existed
Outside of this room?
Outside of this darkness?
Memories feel like dreams
Or perhaps
The dreams are things I have forgotten
Nothing is clear
Only the room
And the darkness
And you.
Thank you so much for joining the challenge with today's prompt, Sean! This was an absolutely phenomenal piece that perfectly captured the steady, but inevitable, spiral into insanity. I loved the flow from one line to the next.
Much like the grip of insanity itself, your piece drew me in an refused to let go. I absolutely loved this!
I love how this spiral felt like a dance. Loved this one!
